Ronald G. McClelland

Ronald G. McClelland is a graduate of York University, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A. – 1972), majoring in philosophy and the University of Western Ontario Law School, Bachelor of Laws (LL.B – 1975). Ronald was called to the Bar of the Law Society of Upper Canada on March 27, 1977. Initially, Ronald practiced law on Bay Street in Toronto. He moved to Cornwall in August 1978, in practice with Barrie M. Wilson. From 1987 to 1999, Ronald practiced law in partnership with R. Bergeron and A.L. Filion, and later, Mr. Filion.

Ronald has argued cases in the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Federal Court of Canada. Additionally, he practiced criminal defence law for a number of years. Ronald was successful in representing a plaintiff in a construction lien action for $10,000,000 and in defeating a counterclaim of $16,000,000.

Ronald served as the President of the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Law Association from 2005 to 2008. Since 1978, Ronald has practiced law in Cornwall and the surrounding area, and continues to practice at 231 Augustus Street, Cornwall, Ontario K6J 3W2. Today, Ronald provides civil litigation and family law services to English-speaking clientele in Cornwall and mentors junior lawyers on an ad hoc basis in family and civil litigation circumstances.

Chelsey J. Cook

Chelsey J. Cook was born and raised in Cornwall, graduating from Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School in 2005. After completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Ottawa, with an Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences with a Specialization in criminology and a minor in psychology in 2009, Chelsey was accepted to study law at Bond University on the Gold Coast of Australia in 2011. Prior to her studies abroad, Chelsey was awarded the Padma and Hari Harilela scholarship for strong academic achievement and extensive community involvement. During her studies at Bond, Chelsey interned at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Queensland, Australia.

In 2014, Chelsey received her Juris Doctor degree with Second Class, division B honours. Chelsey then received her Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada in February of 2014.

Chelsey articled locally in 2014 and was called to the Bar of the Law Society of Upper Canada on January 23, 2015. Since her call, Chelsey had assisted clients of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry in the areas of Family Law and Civil Litigation.

Chelsey joined the partnership of McClelland & Cook in March of 2016 and, together with Ronald G. McClelland, offer legal services in litigation law to the local community.
